Scroll down for an update on Natalie's new home!
Buck has been adopted!

Buck and his new dad Steve
looking toward the future.......
I think it took only an instant when Steve saw Buck and it was clear
that is was meant to be!
Dr. Henson found Buck on the Brazoria County web site (same place that Hank came from-they could be brothers they were so much alike!) and arranged for him to come and live with us. He stayed with us a few weeks to get a few little issues in order and then she placed Bucks photo on the local fishing web site and "We got a hit!" And what a HIT! Steve came to see him and I think they are best friends! That's how it is, you know! Below is a note that Steve wrote to us a few days after he took Buck home. We are so happy for them both......it makes us so happy when our buddies find forever homes!
A note from Bucks new owner follows:
November 19, 2008
Buck is awesome!!! We have quickly bonded. He is minding me but still gets into puppy mishaps. He decided to chew on one of my rugs while I was in the shower this morning. Oh well I needed new rugs in the bedroom anyway.
He is doing well on his walks but we are still working on the house breaking. The potty pants are helping. I tried to see how he would do yesterday afternoon but he has an accident. He did however go and stand by the door in the evening so there is hope.
He tried to join me in my recliner last night. Yeah, that did not work.
We are having fun and I am really enjoying my new buddy.

Cali (aka Natalie) is growing up to be a stunning beauty!
I asked her owners how she was doing, and my heart felt so wonderful when
we received this note and a couple of photo's. I celebrate rescue families and
feel ever so grateful when I hear updates like the one below! Ruthie
ALERT! Cali (aka Natalie) update....
Cali's new parents January 2009
This note was forwarded to us from Catahoula Rescue.
Once again, it is SO great to hear these stories...........enjoy!
Hi Debi, hope all is well, I hope you remember me, I adopted Cali
(Natalie), the 3 legged puppy, she is doing great, Friday, I had her fixed.
I've attached a few pics of Cali. She's a little camera shy,
every time I pull out the camera she bobs & weaves every which way. Cali
is a wonderful addition to our family, she is a great dog, she is very
smart, she knows she can play rough with my 3 1/2 yr. old but is very
gentle with my 11 mo. old, Sport (my older Catahoula) & her get along great now, they actually
miss each other when they are separated, both whine & cry until the other
returns, very sweet.
Hope to hear from you soon.

from the fabulous family who adopted her with another update:
Ruthie: I could not ask for a sweeter dog, Cali is my baby girl. She is doing
great, doesn't stay still. People do not notice she is 3 legged until she
comes up to investigate, she amazes everyone. She is scared of thunder &
rain storms, but if you put a blanket on top of her she feels safe, so she
walks around with a cape on till the storm passes. Thank you guys for taking
such great care of her & making her a great addition to my family, I'll
send pictures from time to time.

Natalie (now named Cali) the story of her beginning
Adopted!!!!! August 2008

Natalie and her new family.
These guys have an old Cathoula that they adopted from Cathoula rescue years ago. When they found that their family had room for a young puppy, they once again went to Catahoua rescue and found Natalie. Little "Bubba" and Nattie had a fun time getting to know each other (as you can see).
Natalie's story, as told by Natalie herself!
I am a VERY SPECIAL girl!
When I arrived, I had 4 legs, but one had shattered bones-I think something happened to me when I was a tiny little puppy. I could run around and play with my 2 sisters, but my leg was of no use. Dr. Henson decided to take my leg off
because I sort of had a hard time running around, it got in the way. It couldn't
be fixed. But WOW! Now, I can RUN REALLY REALLY FAST! I can play and keep up with the big doggies! I love to cuddle too. When Dr. Henson takes me home to play with Kirby, I love to sleep close to him, all curled up. I am looking for a FOREVER HOME with someone who will love and take care of me.
They keep telling me here how special I am, and I think I am too!
Ask my foster family here at Louetta Animal Hospital about me……they will tell you how special I am! Dr. Henson calls me "Lil Bit," Ruthie calls me a "Nattie," Beeler calls me "Punkin" and they all play with me all day long. I sleep under Dr. Henson's desk and Ruthie's desk, and I have all sorts of toys, and every time I drink water, Ruthie brings me outside to the grass to tinkle. Hehehehe, sometimes I drink water just to see if she will take me outside to play in the grass! See how smart I am? They are helping me to learn how to go outside and potty-I still have a little accident now and then, but I am getting to be much better and soon I will be a big girl and not have accidents at all!
I am a Catahoula. I love to run and play. I am smart too! Dr. Henson doesn’t think I will grow to be as big as many Catahoula’s, but perhaps up to 30, maybe even 50 #’s. I have short hair and look at my eyes how pretty! They are smoky gray. I learned to play with the kitties here and my surrogate big brother Kirby (Dr. Henson's doggie), who is also a grown up Catahoula.
I’m a little shy. I love to be loved. And most of all……
I AM SPECIAL!
Dr. Henson and Catahoula Rescue will speak with anyone who could be a potential forever home for Natalie. Her name is Natalie deToit after the South African Olympian swimmer who lost her leg last year, but came back to swim in these past Olympics and came in 16th out of 24, and only an astounding ONE MINUTE behind the winner! We feel that our Natalie has the same determination! There is a small fee to adopt Natalie, that will be collected by Catahoula rescue.
Also, if you are looking for wonderful dogs to adopt, please check out these 2 web sites. We work closely with these groups, and nearly about all the time we have at least 2 animals here that we are giving special care too. These Rescues are a wonderful place to look for animals that have been worked with to make them as adoptable as any fortunate little animal can be.

Other friends that we've helped find perfect homes for:
HANK has been adopted!
(but we have Buck who could be Hanks brother!!!
Call for details)

Hank (a Catahoula) was found in the country in Brazoria and brought to the Sheriff’s office there. Dr. Henson found him on the Internet and went to pick him up. He is a sweetheart! He was a little underweight, but is slowly gaining. He plays with Kirby (Dr. Henson’s catahoula) and gets along just fine!
Come on in to see him if you think he is the guy for you!
Go to our "Rescue Animal" tab to see more photo's of him.
Braxton Bragg (aka Cooper) has been adopted by a great family!

Bragg must be in puppy heaven! His new family has a nice big piece of land, a friend for Bragg and enough love to last him a lifetime! Below you will see the note that they sent and a photo of him and his new best buddy are in our photo album. Click on "Photo Album" to see him and many other friends....
We offer Braggs' new family all our thanks and appreciation for their hearts and home...........
Words from Braggs new parents:
June 3, 2008
Dear Dr. Henson & Team at Louetta Animal Hosptial,
Thanks for the pics!! Cooper (Bragg) is adjusting well.....we had a small episode yesterday when he saw our chickens....he chased them for a bit ( just wanting to play and he has probably never seen chickens before so we will be working diligently with him to teach him that he can't do that...it will come with time :)
His new name is Braxton Bragg...named after Ft. Bragg ( my husband's idea, being military and all ) but we will call him Bragg for short....he is getting along fairly well with our terrier mix...of course with any animals, there is always a pecking order, but he hasn't been aggressive in the least..just wanting to play. Neither one has bitten the other and before we know, I am sure they will be best of friends. We introduced him to our longhorn cattle for a little bit last night. He was a great traveler in the kennel for the ride home and has been rip roaring around the fenced in yard we have...... He will be on a leash outside the yard until he learns to stay on our place....He seems to be very content here...happy to see us and he is learning to speak on command. He is a very sweet dog and eager to please and a quick learner. We are the kind of people that once we take an animal in, it's for life....it is a lifetime commitment that we are more than happy to take on. I will take some pics here in the next few days hopefully and send them to you all to add to your success stories. We are very happy with him and will provide him the loving forever home that he deserves.
Once again, thanks for everything!!!

June 20, 2008 update.............
Dr. Julie & staff~
I just wanted to let you know Cali is doing really well. She is energetic and happy all the time. She bounces off the walls. She LOVES her new sisters and can’t get enough play time. She is so inquisitive when the Doxie/Houla mix (Sachi) burrows under the covers at night. She wants her to come out and play and doesn’t understand what she is doing under there. Of course Sachi will put up with it for a little while and then tells her off. J
She is still so snuggly. She loves to sleep on the bed with the rest of us. Good thing we got a Cal King bed. We need it with 2 adults and 3 dogs. It also inspires me to lose some weight…it’s a tight fit.
I can’t thank you enough for all the love and care you gave Cali while she was with you. She is a joy to be around!!! Attached is a picture of the three girls.
